Poverty and Covid-19: A report of the Social Metrics Commission

This latest report by the Social Metrics Commission highlights the likely scale and nature of the economic fallout of the Covid-19 pandemic on poverty in the UK. Based on YouGov survey data from around 80,000 people, WPI Economics provided analytical insight on how those employed prior to the crisis have fared, identified these groups by their characteristics, and looked at how close they are to the poverty line.

The report also considers the Lived Experience aspects of the Commission’s poverty framework measure, including loneliness, engagement in society, and confidence about the future in light of the pandemic.
