Poverty and Prosperity in Kensington and Chelsea: Understanding inequalities in a borough of extremes

Published: November 2021

In this report we have worked with the K+C Foundation to better understand how poverty and inequality affects residents in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, and how these issues were impacted by the pandemic. We combined quantitative analysis of survey and administrative data with qualitative data collection through interviews and focus groups with local charities, community organisations and residents.

Our summary report compiles the overall findings of our research and provides some case studies that show the human stories behind these numbers. The full version of the report contains a wider range of indicators, puts them into context of trends other research has identified at national level, and provides evidence from our qualitative research into dimensions of poverty and inequality not captured by quantitative data.
