The Future of Community Energy

This report explores the future of the community energy sector in the UK. We consider the potential for growth in community led renewable energy, energy demand reduction and energy flexibility projects, and the economic, social and environmental benefits that such growth would deliver for the country. We find that despite significant progress over the last decade the sector has substantial untapped potential. Community energy could allow people across the country to take action on climate change but current Government policy risks squandering the potential of the sector and there is a pressing need for a new Community Energy Strategy.
