Beyond the tracks: Rail’s contribution to the UK
- We worked with Rail Delivery Group (RDG) on two reports designed to showcase the unique contribution rail makes to the UK.
- The first was centred on the positive economic impact of railway stations in their local communities, in and around the station and on the local high street.
- The second was on the value of rail to the UK economy and measured economic, social and environment benefits. This also explored the potential for this to grow into the future.
- Our role on the first was to create customer spending surveys, manage these in field, analyse the results, model our findings and write these up in a compelling way.
- On the second, we used Department for Transport guidance to calculate the value in a way that is consistent with the Government’s approach.
- We worked collaboratively with RDG’s team to create a compelling narrative for both reports, which reflected the role of the industry in future growth.
TESTIMONIAL
Michael Moruzzi, Director of Communications at Rail Delivery Group, said:
“We worked closely with the WPI Economics team from start to finish. They understood the impact we wanted to demonstrate and delivered a robust set of methodologies to help us to measure it. They were responsive to requests for different cuts of the data, which, in turn, helped us to give our stakeholders the insights they were looking for. We enjoyed working with them and would recommend them to others looking to bring positive impacts to life.”
